UQef is a vehicle for benefactors and businesses to commit significant funds to the University.

UQef will work in partnership with UQ to provide the best outcomes for the students of UQ and the future of the University.

On June 28 2007, The University of Queensland Endowment Fund was prescribed private fund status under Item 2 in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

A prescribed private fund is a private foundation established by a trust deed introduced by the Federal Government to encourage greater philanthropy in Australia.

The fund has been endorsed for income tax exemption and allows for individuals and families to obtain tax deductibility for donations.
